About Karissa Hickman

Welcome to Country Pet Playground! My love for dogs began in my childhood, surrounded by my great-grandfather's grooming and boarding business. After graduating as a certified veterinary assistant in 2006 and spending a decade at Denver Animal Hospital, I followed my passion and opened this facility in 2017. Here, we treat every pet like family, ensuring they enjoy a safe, fun, and nurturing environment while you're away.

My husband, Sean, is a Marine Veteran & former Law Enforcement Officer. He has his own full-time job, but you'll see him from time to time helping me out. We also have 6 fur kids of our own with 3 dogs & 3 cats.

We moved here in 2016 to escape big city life. Our business is situated on 13 acres of land that we hunt, hike, and enjoy. To balance work and life, we have a strict schedule for the business. I provide services year-round, 7 days a week, with a vacation in there somewhere if we’re lucky!

With all that being said, we ask that you do not show up without an appointment or reservation.  One person works 6-8 hours every day, 7 days a week. She needs her personal time, which is scheduled around the work schedule.  If you cannot respect the schedule, times, etc., then this place isn't a good fit for you.
